Beyond Real Estate Photography
Aerial drone videos and photos for real estate are becoming just as expected as interior/exterior photos. They offer more of a complete picture of the property, showing off the property, surrounding area and landscape features, in a way that ground level photography just can't capture.
Rooftop inspections are labor intensive. Normally a two man team at least, needing to get onto the roof, and then conduct your inspection and measurements while keeping employee safety in mind. With today's UAV platforms these inspections can be conducted faster, and in a safer manner from the ground.
With natural disasters Drone pilots have been in high demand. Surveying storm damage while keeping workers safely out of the damaged areas is just one example of how drones are helping the insurance industry
Drone Photography and Video
While UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) can be used in a variety of industries, they're little more than flying cameras with GPS built in. That means every photo taken has information about the image's location, elevation, time of day, etc. All of that information can come together in map models for construction clients, real estate clients, those looking for inspection services, and more. The way all of the data is collected is through images and videos generated by the little flying cameras we call drones.
The most basic application of drones is very simple. Aerial Photography and Videography. We're here to tell you, the images generated can be more than just a basic photo.
The data that a drone collects contains information that can be used to create highly detailed and accurate images, maps, and datasets.
Some of the types of images, maps, and datasets that can be produced are:
2D Orthomosaics - Georeferenced, orthorectified maps
3D Point Clouds - Georeferenced, filtered and classified dense point clouds
Elevation Models - Georeferenced digital elevation models (DSMs and DTMs)
3D Models - Textured 3D models in .OJB and OGC 3D Tiles format
Measurements - Make volume and area measurements, track stockpiles
Contours - Export elevation contours to AutoCAD, ShapeFile, GeoPackage
